What to Expect When You Stay at Cahuilla Mountain Retreat: A Guest FAQ

Before your first stay at Cahuilla Mountain Retreat, it helps to know what to actually expect. Here are the questions we hear most from guests before they arrive.

Where exactly is the property? The retreat sits on five secluded acres in Anza, California, in the mountains east of Temecula and west of Palm Springs. It’s a genuinely rural setting, about 15 minutes from the village of Anza for supplies or a meal out.

Is there Wi-Fi and cell service? The property has Wi-Fi, though cell service in the surrounding area can be patchy depending on carrier — worth keeping in mind if you’re relying on your phone for navigation on the way in.

Is the hot tub available year-round? Yes. It’s one of the retreat’s main features and works in every season, though it’s especially good on cool evenings in fall and winter.

Do we need to bring groceries? There’s a market in Anza for basics, and Ribbonwood Grill and Road Runner Bar & Grill are both close by if you’d rather not cook. For anything specific, it’s worth stocking up before the drive in, since options are limited once you’re up the mountain.

Is the property good for hiking without a car? There’s room to walk the land itself, but reaching trailheads like Thomas Mountain or Hurkey Creek Park does require a short drive.

What should we pack? Layers, regardless of season — mountain evenings cool down fast — plus a swimsuit for the hot tub and sturdy shoes if you plan to hike.

Can we contact the host directly during our stay? Yes. Quinn and Larry host the property personally and are reachable by phone or email before, during, and after your stay for anything you need.

Still have a question we didn’t cover? Reach out before you book — we’re happy to help you plan.
